The story of the movie is as such: It's a light-hearted look at the funny side of the political scenario in the country. The movie spans over a period of one week, and its main protagonist is Aamir Khan (Raju). Raju is introduced in cold open for a small talk show with political journalist Shobha De (Vidya), and he seems to be an innocent guy who has just come from his village. He comes on board with Shobha's show to play the role of a "normal person" who doesn't know anything about the current political situation. But as Delhi Safari progresses, we find out that Raju is not at all like his other co-stars. Raju has an interesting relationship with Shobha; he doesn't understand her ways, but wants to make it work with the help of her assistant (Karanvir Bohra). The lead starlet of the show Shreya (Yami Gautam) is smitten by Raju; she tries to win him over, but to no avail. The show takes a serious turn when Raju meets with the then Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal (Rishi Kapoor) in Chandni Chowk. The two strike an unlikely friendship, and Raju is all set to become AAP's face. But when he finally meets the party chief (Om Puri), he is shocked to find out that his boss is none other than his old friend, ex-pat Yuvi Sir (Mithun Chakraborty).
